Unlock: STLCC 2022 Student Art Exhibition

An illustration created for STLCC's 2022 Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition,
in collaboration with James Less, and Shruthi Beedu.
The idea of the poster was an advertisement for the school's student featured show, of which contained a variety of pieces including but not limited to sculpture, print, interior design, and animation. Our group wanted to combine multiple areas of discipline the school offers to teach in a cohesive and attractive design that can be used both in a poster format and postcard sized.
Using inspiration from a part of a local sculpture on campus, we created a simple vector image that highlights the innocence and youth of creativity. The final product was cut out on wood boards and inked onto white paper, giving a woodgrain texture to the poster. In an effort to create a simpler advertisement that physically compels the audience to visit the almost-hidden gallery, we created a Shepard Fairey-Inspired poster that would work much like his "Obey" work, and be plastered onto any surface imaginable to have that authoritarian and bold presence. The "Unlock Your Creativity" poster would serve as a non-direct sort of propaganda to compel the audience to seek the meaning, and ultimately the gallery.
